About VecSnap

What is VecSnap?

VecSnap turns images into SVG files you can work with: real shapes, few anchor points, layers you can find. It runs in your browser at vecsnap.com, and converting is free.

Who makes VecSnap?

VecSnap is built by the VecSnap team, as a product company. Its engine is our own, built and trained in-house, and nothing is resold from another service. The company behind VecSnap is named in our terms of service.

About VecSnapTerms of service

What is VecSnap for, and what is it not for?

VecSnap is for drawn images: logos, icons, stickers, mascots and flat illustrations, including images made with ChatGPT, Gemini or Midjourney. It is not made for photos, and it makes no images of its own: it converts the ones you have.

Converting

Can ChatGPT, Gemini or Midjourney make an SVG?

Their image tools make pictures in pixels: a PNG, a JPG or a WebP. ChatGPT can also write simple SVG code, but the pictures it makes are pixels. VecSnap turns such a picture into an SVG by drawing it again as shapes.

How many anchor points will my file have?

As few as each edge needs. VecSnap shows the count before you keep a file, beside what potrace leaves for the same image, so you can check it yourself.

Files and formats

What files do I get?

Every image VecSnap unlocks comes as a Web file, the lightest SVG, for code; a Design file, with named layers and real shapes, for Figma and Illustrator; and that Design file as a PDF.

Does the same image always give the same file?

Yes. VecSnap gives the same image the same file every time, until its engine improves.

Credits and price

What does a VecSnap credit buy?

One credit unlocks one image for good, with every format, re-run and re-download included. Converting and previewing are free.

What if a result is not right?

Tell VecSnap which result, and the credit comes back. A conversion that fails never costs a credit.

What happens to my images?

VecSnap deletes the copy it converts from after 7 days. Nothing you convert is shown to anyone else, and there is no public gallery.

The names we use

One name for each thing, on every page, in every file and in every email.

Anchor point
A point an edge passes through, counted the way Figma and Illustrator count them. Curve handles are not counted.
Shape
A circle, a rectangle or a path in your file, as your design tool shows it.
Text you can still edit
A word kept as a word in your layers, set in its matching open font, when VecSnap can read it.
File size
How much the SVG weighs, in KB: what a page loads and a server stores.
Web file
The lightest SVG of a result, for websites and code.
Design file
The SVG with named layers and real shapes, for Figma and Illustrator. It also downloads as a PDF.
Credit
What unlocks one image for good, with every format, re-run and re-download included.

Drop an image. Check the file.

Converting is free. You see the whole result before you spend anything.
